Multiplayer and patches do not work

You are isolated with this App-Store version (support, updates, patches, multi-player experience,…). Buy it from Steam:

I love Civilization series; The game itself as single player is good. I would have given 5-star if it was Civilization BE with Aspyr support. But I cannot play multiplayer. This App Store version of BE is Single-Player. I had Civ5 on Steam and had no problem with multiplayer. This one purchased from App Store seems to run smoother but lacks multiplayer option! Also, updates to game mechanics are not applied to this Version.
