It’s actually great

I put off buying this because of all of the low ratings. I had low expectations.

I love it. I understand why people might not like it. It is complex, it’s not as intuitive as the other Civilization titles. A big part of it is that in classic CIv, you are dealing with technology and resources that already exist, so a big part of understanding the game’s strategy comes naturally. In this game, you have to learn. But other than that, it’s excellent. I love its complexity. There are so many more dimensions to gameplay. Civ V is my favorite game but this game is absolutely more complex. There are new forms of narrative, new goals, new assets.. also beautifully put together as always. I am happy to have spent the $40. Even if you don’t like it, you have to admit that it is exceptionally well put together.
